Members of the GT Leaders in Progress and Service Quality Enhancement Plan team and Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce members met to discuss the future of the workforce.

In a significant step toward preparing Georgia Tech students for the evolving workforce, leaders from Georgia Tech’s Leaders in Progress and Service Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) met with staff from the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce in September. The meeting focused on aligning Georgia Tech’s Leaders in Progress and Service framework with industry needs to ensure students graduate equipped to thrive in their careers. 

The Metro Atlanta Chamber, through its new Talent Collaborative initiative, is working closely with higher education institutions and employers to connect rising talent with in-demand job opportunities. This partnership between Georgia Tech and the Chamber is aimed at fostering stronger relationships with local businesses while ensuring that the QEP reflects the skills and competencies employers are seeking. 

Shaping the Future Workforce  

As part of the collaboration, the Chamber will help Georgia Tech host a series of workshops this fall, bringing employers and educators together. These workshops will allow employers to provide input on the QEP’s design, ensuring that the program equips students with career-ready skills that support the needs of the local economy. 

By building these industry connections early on, Georgia Tech aims to develop a robust educational experience that positions its graduates as leaders ready to make an impact in their chosen fields. “We’re committed to ensuring our new program helps students be career-ready, while also serving the needs of our state,” said Chad Slieper, faculty co-director of the Leaders in Progress and Service QEP. 

About the Leaders in Progress and Service QEP 

Georgia Tech’s Leaders in Progress and Service QEP focuses on developing leaders who advance technology and improve the human condition by drawing on Tech’s long history of providing immersive, experiential learning opportunities. These experiences challenge students to apply their classroom knowledge in real-world settings, incorporate multiple perspectives as they define complex problems, and develop their own identity as professionals. The program is part of Georgia Tech’s broader initiative to ensure all students have access to transformative learning experiences that prepare them to lead in their industries and communities.  

As the QEP moves closer to its official launch in fall 2025, this partnership with the Metro Atlanta Chamber represents an important milestone in ensuring that the program aligns with both student aspirations and employer expectations. This partnership reflects Georgia Tech’s ongoing commitment to innovation in education and workforce development, positioning the Institute as a leader in preparing students for the future of work.
