Two OUE faculty members and twelve GT 1000 instructors from departments across campus have been recognized in the Fall 2023 Course Instructor Opinion Survey (CIOS) Honor Roll for their outstanding contributions in the classroom. The CIOS honor roll highlights not only the invaluable efforts of these instructors but also underscores the importance of student feedback in shaping the learning experience. Course instructors play a vital role in higher education, bringing fresh perspectives, real-world expertise, and a passion for teaching to the classroom. These instructors, driven by a genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of students, dedicate their time and knowledge without financial compensation. Their contributions enrich the educational landscape and create meaningful learning opportunities for students.
Among the instructors honored were two OUE faculty members, both part of Academic Success and Advising (ASA): Dr. Charmaine Troy, Associate Director for First-Generation Student Initiatives, was recognized for her teaching of LMC 3206: Communication & Culture; and Dr. Yan Liang, Pre-Health Education and Outreach Specialist, was recognized for teaching GT 1000.
In addition to Dr. Troy and Dr. Liang, twelve GT 1000 instructors from across campus were also recognized in the CIOS Honor Roll. All GT 1000 courses are overseen and coordinated by OUE’s Office of Experiential and Engaged Learning (E2L) and provide incoming first-year students with the skills and resources they need to succeed at Georgia Tech. All GT 1000 courses are taught by volunteer instructors from departments across the Georgia Tech campus.
