Iteeah Pounds, Co-op and Internships Program & Operations Manager in the Georgia Tech Career Center, has been selected as the Group Leader for the FYSA@Oxford program for the remainder of the Fall semester. As the group leader, Iteeah will lead a cohort of 47 first-year students on an enriching journey across Europe. During this time, they will explore major museums, concert halls, and other cultural landmarks, fostering their passion for art, music, and culture.
According to Iteeah,
The FYSA@Oxford Group Leader opportunity piqued my interest because it would allow me to see this experience through the eyes of our first-year students outside of the traditional career center environment. Being a group leader will also provide me exposure to academic experiences outside of the United States. My overall career center experience coupled with exposure such as this, would allow me to advance to new heights of experiential learning and higher education.
Iteeah's role as the Group Leader entails various responsibilities:
- Cultivating skills in study abroad programming, logistics, and student well-being.
- Addressing non-academic student matters in collaboration with faculty members and the STS Tour Leader.
- Ensuring safety and security throughout the journey.
- Assisting with adherence to the itinerary and schedule.
- Providing essential support such as accompanying students to medical facilities when necessary.
- Managing logistics including hotel check-in/check-out and attendance tracking.
- Collaborating with the Tour Leader and faculty for seamless coordination.
- Maintaining awareness of travel restrictions and challenges.
- Documenting daily stops and addressing logistical concerns.
