To our OUE team members, thank you for supporting our students in the Transfer Year Experience Program (TYE).
TYE is a collaborative initiative designed to increase academic success for high-priority transfer students, including under-represented minorities, first-generation college students, and Pell eligible students. In addition to programing and resources, TYE also provides a comprehensive living and learning community for these students.
This Program is led by OUE in partnership with the Office of Minority Education and Development (OMED), the Center for Engineering Education and Diversity (CEED), and the Department of Housing. TYE demonstrates how OUE collaborates with other campus units to serve our students.
A recent highlight is this year’s TYE Fall Retreat, held on Saturday, August 17, from 10:30 am to 3:00 pm at Brittain Rec. The retreat provided transfer students with valuable resources and experiences to help them navigate their first year at Georgia Tech. The retreat included:
- Career Launching Tips: Students learned how to launch their career search from an experienced engineer at Microsoft, who is also a proud Georgia Tech alumnus.
- Personalized College Roadmap: Dr. Anna Holcomb, a faculty member from the Office of Undergraduate Education, guided students in creating their own personalized college roadmap.
- Research and Mentorship Opportunities: Students discussed undergraduate research opportunities and the OUE mentorship programs available to them.
- Leadership Micro-Credential: Participants took the first step in earning a leadership micro-credential, setting the foundation for their future growth and success.
Following the retreat, students were treated to a special visit to the Chick-fil-A Hall of Fame. At 1:00 pm, shuttles transported them to the museum, where they explored the exhibits and learned about the history and legacy of one of Georgia's most iconic brands.
The dedication and support provided by the Office of Undergraduate Education have been instrumental in the success of the TYE Program and, by extension, the success of our transfer students. Your commitment ensures that these students have the resources and guidance they need to thrive at Georgia Tech.
Thank you, OUE, for being a cornerstone of our students' success.
