After decades of petitioning, Buzz is getting an update to its drab "Buzz Gold" look. The jacket's new shade—Buzz Pollen—is a welcome refresh to the iconic Georgia Tech University mascot.

"We've been working towards this for years," said George P. Burdell, 60-time Tech graduate and member of the board of directors for Mad Magazine. "Buzz is an icon for Georgia Tech and its color should reflect the mascot's surroundings more accurately. What's more prevalent right now than pollen?"

It's true, 99 out of 100 people surveyed said that pollen is literally everywhere. Georgians throughout history have decried the yellow nuisance, but now some feel it's time to embrace the sneezing-induced demon powder.

"Buzz buzzzz buzz buzz buzzz buzz buzzzzz buzzz," said Buzz, Tech's mascot since the 1900s.

Buzz made its first appearance on the cheerleading squad back in October 11, 1980 and they felt after 30 years, the move to the new color was a good one. "Buzzzzz buzz buzz buzz buzz buzz."

"It was actually a pretty easy change," said one GT designer. "The old hex code for 'Buzz Gold' was #eaaa00 and 'Buzz Pollen' is #eea. We just had to remove a few letters, and voila!"

Be sure to keep your eye out for Buzz Pollen everywhere over the next few weeks. It's likely to come and go, depending on the weather, but it'll never be far from our hearts and minds.
