Each academic year, OUE solicits nominations for the Student Advisory Board (SAB), an outstanding group of undergraduate students who work closely with the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education and OUE leadership throughout the year. The mission of the SAB is to contribute diverse ideas and perspectives on matters that impact the undergraduate academic experience. The board fulfills this mission by: providing suggestions and input on current or future programs, services, policies, and other academic initiatives; advising on a range of academic issues that are important to undergraduate students; facilitating dialogue and communication between undergraduates and the Vice Provost’s office Advocating for resources; and supporting the advancement of student ideas and interest.
The 2023-24 SAB, chaired by computer science major Hunter Richardson, has already been hard at work this fall, meeting with the inaugural Associate Vice Provost for Teaching and Learning, Laura Carruth, to share undergraduate experiences related to the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) and discussing registration-related concerns with representatives from the Registrar’s Office.
Richardson appreciates the opportunity the SAB presents by “combin[ing] a diverse group of students and giv[ing] them a platform (and food) as we all strive to improve the undergraduate experience at Georgia Tech.” According to Richardson, this year’s SAB plans to focus on a wide variety of topics that impact the undergraduate student experience, including enrollment growth, student well-being and academics, and the transfer student experience.
