This summer, Academic Success and Advising (ASA) and the Office of Experiential and Engaged Learning (E2L) teamed up to host “Summer Camp Clough” to build community amongst each unit. Four camp sessions were scheduled and each session had a mix of “counselors” made up of team members from ASA and E2L. Each set of counselors were given a budget for their session and the only instructions were to be creative and have fun.
The first session was similar to classic summer camp with s’mores, paper campfires, and crafts with The Parent Trap playing on the big screen. The second session featured old fashioned ice cream shop decorations with sodas and ice cream to celebrate National Soda Float Day. The "campers" played a trivia game about the holiday.
The third session was "Yankee Doodle Camp Clough" on the third of July with red, white, and blue decorations and snacks. Music played on the speakers while a fireworks show projected on the screens. The fourth session, “Beach Hangout”, featured salty and sweet snacks, mocktails, ping-pong, putt-putt, and serene ocean sounds.
Summer camp would not be complete without a good old-fashioned barbeque and a field trip. All the happy campers were invited to a picnic lunch featuring barbeque chicken, green beans, and macaroni and cheese followed by a field trip to Paper and Clay where campers chose to paint a canvas or a ceramic of their choice.
A special thanks to our awesome Camp Clough Counselors for planning and executing the events!
