On April 16—aptly timed during National Undergraduate Research Week—over 150 undergraduate student researchers gathered in Exhibition Hall to present posters or give talks on their research projects.
In the morning, talks were given on topics ranging from computer science to finance and medicine. “Moderators and attendees were inspired by students' presentations to think about their own work in new ways,” said Laura Williams, Director of Undergraduate Research.
During the afternoon poster sessions, students and campus community members explored rows of posters presented by undergraduate researchers. “Quite a few folks made a point to tell us how impressed they were with students' research,” said Courtney Hoffman, Academic Professional for Undergraduate Research Writing.
Between poster sessions, Williams and Hoffman thanked the presenters and recognized 15 Outstanding Undergraduate Researchers from the six colleges.
The following students were awarded this honor:
- David Heineman (College of Computing)
- Isabella Baker (College of Design)
- Clara Bailey (College of Engineering)
- Abigail Dejneka (College of Engineering)
- Ananya Kumar (College of Engineering)
- Hiroki Mii (College of Engineering)
- Julia Vallier (College of Engineering)
- Yang (Vivian) Yang (College of Engineering)
- Joseph Schwalbe (College of Engineering)
- Lianna Arnold (College of Engineering)
- Rommy Sierra (College of Sciences)
