The Georgia Tech Career Center and High-Impact Learning Initiatives hosted several events to support and expand the startup ecosystem at Georgia Tech and in the community.
There has always been a high interest from Georgia Tech students in entrepreneurship and startup careers, and OUE's departments want to ensure that opportunities exist for students to connect and work with Startups.
The Startup Career Expo, held on March 8 in the Exhibition Hall, brought together 15 Startups and 170+ students, and their partnership with Atlanta Tech Village in our first Startup Student Connection event on March 29, provided 200+ Georgia Tech students the opportunity to connect with an additional 26 startups that participated in the event.
The Xperience Startup Internship Fund was established and launched in the Summer of 2022 to provide financial support to Georgia Tech students taking unpaid internships with startup companies. The program provides support to both students and startups by:
- Expanding access and the diversity of internship opportunities for Georgia Tech students
- Allowing students to explore and gain entrepreneurial learning experiences
- Providing startups with talent that contributes to their growth
Last summer, the fund helped support 12 students and 11 Startups. For the Summer of 2023, the program has continued to grow, and additional funding will allow 18 students to work on building their experience and entrepreneurial knowledge through internships with 12 new Startups.
