With approximately 900 students total and 400 in residence in Eighth Street Apartments East and South, the Honors Program (HP) is one of the largest Living Learning Communities (LLCs) on campus.

To provide the best information, services, and activities to our many students, the HP recognizes the importance of collaboration across units of the Office of Undergraduate Education (OUE). In the first month of the fall semester, OUE partners from Undergraduate Advising and Transition and the Career Center provided vital programming for HP students.

This fall, the Honors Program became the only LLC to invite transfer students to join in their first year at Georgia Tech. To support these new students and welcome them to campus, the HP is providing programming that focuses on transfer student success. De’Angelo Neely, Transfer Success Advisor and Program and Operations Manager in Undergraduate Advising and Transition, presented a session on success coaching to the transfer students in the Honors Program. Almost ½ of the 42 new transfer students were in attendance and learned about the role of the transfer success advisor, academic coaching, and exploratory advising. Students also participated in some active learning exercises to demonstrate the efficacy of academic coaching.

Honors Program transfer students participated in the Transfer Success Coaching event. The event was led by Transfer Success Advisor De’Angelo Neely and organized by HP Program and Operations Manager Lauren Evans.

The Honors Program has also paired with the Career Center to prepare students for participation in the fall 2022 all-majors career fair being held September 12th and 13th. Peer career advisor Sachin Kadam (ECON) met with approximately 50 Honors Program students to review topics such as creating a resume, researching companies, crafting an introduction, and etiquette and attire.

Honors Program students attended a workshop on preparing for the Career Fair. The event was led by Career Peer Advisor Sachin Kadam and organized by HP Program and Operations Manager Lauren Evans.

Thank you to all our OUE partners—especially Undergraduate Advising and Transition and the Career Center—for your support of Honors Program students!
