Dr. Spencer’s career includes over 25 years of experience at University System of Georgia institutions, where she has worked in academic advising, program administration, admissions, and roles focused on promoting academic success and support. 

As the Director of Undergraduate Curricular Initiatives, she leads and contributes to initiatives in general education, the Georgia Legislative Requirements (GLRs), undergraduate academic policies, undergraduate minors and certificates, dual enrollment, program maps, the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), and SACSCOC reaffirmation of accreditation. 

Additional responsibilities include working on initiatives around course planning and incorporating curricular analytics and other metrics into our partnerships with advisors and faculty. She serves as Georgia Tech’s Learning Support Coordinator and on USG working groups. 

Trained as an historian, Beth teaches history courses but also regularly facilitates sections of GT1000, 2000, and 2100. She holds a Ph.D. in History from Georgia State University, a M.Ed. in Adult Education from the University of Georgia, a M.A. in Modern Social History from the University of Lancaster (UK), and an AB from the University of Georgia.
